I’m Carlos, a Costa Rica–based photographer with over 10 years of experience working across creative projects and visual storytelling.

Growing up surrounded by the light, color and textures of Costa Rica has deeply influenced the way I see and create. Nature, movement and atmosphere are constant references in my work.

Film photography became the medium where I found a more honest way to express what I feel and see. What started as a hobby — collecting vintage cameras — evolved into something more intentional the day I finally held my dream camera, a Leica M6. That moment reignited my connection to photography and to the experience of making images.

Through film, I explored different stocks, cameras and formats. I’ve experimented with the full analog process — from creating pinhole images to developing and enlarging photographs in the darkroom. That journey reshaped the way I understand the value of a single frame.

Digital photography remains an essential part of my professional work, but I often approach every image thinking about how it would live on a specific roll of film.

Through analog, I learned to approach every image with greater awareness and care.

Photography, for me, is about intention.
